Rain Spotted Copper Cat in the Garden
There's a saying that "Some people walk in the rain, others just get wet." Well, I'm getting wet.
Yesterday my sister came over from Port Angeles and we had a great time despite the rain. We stopped in the Children's Hospital Thrift Shop to see if there were any goodies. I love thrift shops. There weren't any goodies but it was fun, anyway. Then we went to another book sale at the library.
I picked up two cookbooks (one vegetarian and one on Mediterranean cooking), a little book of Zen thoughts, a book on computer terminology (hey, it was like 50 cents...and I might need it sometime.), another book by Lynne Truss called Talk to the Hand; The Utter Bloody Rudeness of the World Today, or Six Good Reasons to Stay Home and Bolt the Door. She's the author of Eats, Shoots and Leaves which I thoroughly enjoyed.
So, I haven't been out with the camera. I did manage to snap a few shots in the garden here at the house now and then when Mother Rain was catching her breath.
Garden Art - Wooden Gate with Leaded Glass
This garden gate is one of my favorite spots in this yard and I think I'll see if we can create something similar when we get home. I mean, how hard could it be? What a statement if it would make either in our lakescaping or our perennial garden.
I love this rocking chair, too. A bright pop of color on a dreary day! Who could be gloomy with this sitting on the porch, I'd like to know?
On another note, my sister brought me a box of Rooibos red tea which is naturally caffeine free but not an herb...I'm not wild about herbal tea for some reason. This tea comes from a bush in Africa and is said to be high in antioxidants. I honestly didn't know it was caffeine free until after I had tasted it. It's delicious. I like it with a little milk.
So that's it, folks...this rain isn't leaving any time soon. I'm going to spend the rest of the day reading and drinking tea.

Beautiful chair! Love the colors. It's very inspirational. When Baglady sees it, she's going to have to go out and paint something right away. Too bad her foot hurts.
I am a huge fan of garden art and of course, art is in the mind of the beholder. Loved the photos.
Does it ever stop raining up there?
We are supposed to have rain all weekend and week.
ugh
I love your bright, cherry rocker!
I want to live your life! Strolling around on a rainy day to thrift shops and book sales, taking pictures of lovely garden objects, sipping tea as you settle down to read a book... What a contented way to spend a day!
Ooooh, I'd love to see what Baglady will dream up to paint, POD. You're right...she'll be on a mission. I've got more garden art pictures that I'll post another day.
Pam, that rocker just rocks, doesn't it???
Ms. Sparrow, the grass is usually greener on the other side of the fence, though. I'm quite contented at the moment but I might like to be on your side, for a change!!
Hey! You gals talkin' about me again!? I LOVE that chair, but I love the gate with the leaded glass, too! Hmmmmm - I see projects in my future. (Once I finish the current project, that is.)
It was raining here today, too - nasty freezing stuff that makes the roads miserable! I could cheerfully have spent the day with you, Cheryl, companionably drinking tea and reading. (and POD could have joined us, but then we'd have all spent the day giggling!)
Lady B - welcome! Yes, we were talking about you, so??? Ick, your weather sounds even worse than here and Northern CA. Spending the day with you and POD would have been lovely.
I talked to someone from home (Minnesota), today, and was informed that it was near 30 degrees, no wind and sunny. That's practically like SPRING, for heaven's sake
That chair is gorgeous! If I ever got hold of an old rocker that's just how I'd paint it:-)
By the way, I'm a huge devotee of rooibos. I drink it like regular black tea with milk when I don't want caffeine. My husband and I finish off a pot almost every evening!
I really like tea but don't drink more than a cup or two now and then. But since trying the rooibos, I've become a devotee, too. Totally understand polishing off a pot a day!
Oh I am so happy to have stopped in here today - felt like I got a nice breathe of fresh air :) Happy blogging Cheryl
Correen! Lovely to see you. I've been a less than active Squidooer, lately. I think it was burnout...worked so hard to get to Giant and then just fizzled. All is not lost...I'm just taking a break. I'll stop by to visit you, too.
