The Rain in Spain...or on Bainbridge Island

This isn't as impressive as it was in "real life"...partly because the sound of the rain skipping down the rain chain and splashing into the little pond was positively zen-like.  That little frog peeking out is a glass frog.  It's transparent although you can't tell from the photo.  One of those instances where it loses in the translation.  Either that or I really need to learn more about my camera.

That was yesterday.  Today is sunny.  We went to the library book sale which is held twice a month, I think.  I got Eats, Shoots & Leaves by Lynn Truss.  The subtitle is "The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation".  I am not great at punctuation...too many exclamation points and probably too many commas...and "dots"...  Anyway, it's a witty and comical guide to punctuation and it's my new little reference.

The title?  Well, as the story goes:

A panda walks into a cafe.  He orders a sandwich, eats it, then draws a gun and fires two shots in the air.

"Why?" asks the confused waiter, as the panda makes towards the exit.  The panda produces a badly punctuated wildlife manual and tosses it over his shoulder.

"I'm a panda," he says, at the door.  "Look it up."

The waiter turns to the relevant entry and, sure enough, finds an explanation.

"Panda.  Large black-and-white bear-like mammal, native to China.  Eats, shoots and leaves."

Just so you know.

The 'rain-chain' is interesting - I wonder if I could reproduce something similar? Hmmm... must put that in my 'to-do' file (my 'to-do' list has grown so large, it's now a file!)

Just getting back to the computer and was pleased to see the comments!

Lady B, I think I've seen instructions online for making rain chains but I know you can buy them. This one hangs from the corner of the porch roof. It's really pretty. Copper.

Kittie, did you find one online? I think when we get home I'll put one up, too.

Hilary, it's the most peaceful sound in the world. It's really a water feature. A little waterfall.

And Together We Save, thank you for stopping by!

I love the idea of the rain chain. I nearly bought one last weekend. I have a pond that a rain chain would fit nicely dripping into. I have not read that book either. I'm not sure I'd want to read it. :-(

Seriously, the rain chain sounds so soothing. You'll love it, POD. I'm about half way through the book and I'm enjoying it. That wry British humor is a big part of it. I refuse to become paranoid about punctuation, tho.
