| I hate to admit it but I've done this -ha! |
Jack left this morning for a smoothie gig. He'll be away until Saturday night. Lucky duck.
I have been struck by Cabin Fever. Big time.
I was positively giddy when the cast was removed on Tuesday...even though it was tricky walking with the boot, it was like being released from jail. All kinds of plans swirled around my brain. I could shop, cook, sew, paint, whatever. Mobility was once again mine. It was going to be a very good day.
"Not so fast, Lady Jane", said the good doctor. "Keep the foot up as much as possible for the next three weeks. Practice walking with the boot but don't overdo." Yadda, yadda, yadda...
I've settled myself in front of the computer more times than I can count and clicked "new post" each and every time. Nothing. Checked my photo files for something to post. Nothing. It's like my brain has frozen.
Besides which it's still winter. Most everyone I know is climbing the walls and fantasizing about spring. Planting a garden. Going for a walk. Packing away the winter coats. That's got to be Cabin Fever, right? It can't last long, right?
One of the definitions of Cabin Fever from Urban Dictionary is this:
That would be me.
"A type of hysteria brought on by spending too much time indoors. Directly descended from long haul journeys where you are stuck in cramped conditions for too damn long."
There's hope, though. I did find a couple of interesting photos to post tomorrow. Photo Finish Friday is my ticket out of this impasse. Whew!
I think I'm going to be okay.

It IS going to be a temptation to overdo, Cheryl, especially with your hubby away and no "adult supervision." But be careful. Three more weeks of enforced idleness is a much better prospect than might face you if you don't follow the doctor's directions!
ReplyDeleteGlad you got the cast off! 3 weeks should be gone by soon.
ReplyDeleteTake care,
Hang in there.
ReplyDeleteSpring and normal walking are just around the corner.
Best wishes from Sybil in Eastern Passage, NS
Sorry you're suffering with the foot. I broke my foot a few years back but could not do the castie footie thing. I was afraid I'd hurt my back and get that all cater wampus. See now you have something else to worry about.
ReplyDeleteHow fun!
I love that cartoon - too funny! I hope things feel better soon. Seriously.
Linda, you are sweet. I'll be good. Although I did sneak downstairs, today. Kind of hobbled down like the Hunchback of Notre Dame - ha! I was looking for something. Didn't find it. I'll be good, now. I promise.
ReplyDeleteYou are right, Ramona...3 weeks will be here tomorrow, if you get my drift.
Well, hi there, Sybil!! I'm so pleased that you stopped by...it's exciting about Lynne moving to Nova Scotia, isn't it? I want to talk Jack into a trip there. We'll see...
Janell, I'm almost ashamed of myself for whining about my foot when things could be soooo much worse. Thanks for putting up with me. So why couldn't you have a cast?
Follow instructions for 100 percent healing. I didn't follow them 100 percent and I didn't heal 100 percent.
ReplyDeleteHowever. Nice to have the cast off, huh?
You sound in good spirits. That's the important thing! Enjoy your time!
ReplyDeleteYou're getting all the good advice you need here so I'll just say that I'm happy you're cast is off and that you're well on your way to mending.
ReplyDeleteBehave yourself!!! There will be enough time for rushing around later and then you will be saying that you wish you had time to just sit down for a while! Take care of yourself xxx
ReplyDeleteOkay now I'm not sure if my comment will post, I'll check back tomorrow if not, well have a great day and I hope my comment shows up! lol Good to see you here again Cheryl!
ReplyDeleteAh yes certainly, we all suffer from a spring fever or a cabin fewer. I can not wait till I can be outdoors again.;)
ReplyDeleteHappy to hear that the cast is off.;)
Have a great weekend,
xoxo
Of course you're going to be ok! You rest up and enjoy this downtime.
ReplyDeleteI know what cabin fever is! Got it now!
ReplyDeleteTake care not to be footloose, Cheryl - Sorry, that was a bad one... *_*
Grethe ´)
I hear you about the cabin fever. I haven't been stuck inside all winter, but man I could use some warmer weather. I'm itching to get out and explore. Glad you're out of the cast and into a boot. Hope you're all healed up soon.
ReplyDeletePartial freedom means you are halfway to total freedom, ya know. Sooooo glad the cast is off.
ReplyDeleteHmmm...what didn't you do (or did do) that caused you not to heal, Linda M? Did you walk without the boot? I'm trying to be good but it's hard.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Teresa. I AM in good spirits!
And thank you, too, Hilary. It is especially good to be able to NOT wear the boot at night.
I promise I will behave, Fran. You're right...I'll be glad, later!
Hi darlin! As you can see your comment posted just fine. I hope you're having a very nice weekend.
Zuzana, we will both be happy as can be when spring arrives! I wonder whose will arrive first...yours or ours?
Hi E, my friend. Thank you for stopping by!
I got a chuckle out of your comment, Grethe! I agree with you. Spring can't arrive soon enough.
You've hit the nail on the head, Vicky...getting out to explore is exactly what I need! And you, too!
You're right, TechnoBabe, partial freedom is a start. I feel like I've been under house arrest - ha!
Glad the cast is off, but it can't be much fun to still have to keep the foot up most of the time.
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely ready for winter to be over. I'll even start wearing real clothes under my overcoat!
