Where's the Fire? (Photo Finish Friday)

A Classic (and it works!)

A couple of years ago we spent several days up at the Northwest Angle of Minnesota with some good friends.  They have a log cabin up there at the little town called Angle Inlet.  It was just more darned fun than a person should have - ha!

Anyway, this is the fire engine at the Northwest Angle Volunteer Fire Department.  It's a working fire engine.  Really, it is.

I guess this would be a perfect example of "they don't make 'em like they used to!"

Thanks to Leah of The Goat's Lunch Pail for letting me be a part of Photo Finish Friday.

  3. I retired from the company that made this truck. It makes me proud to see an old truck bearing the company's name and still doing its job. Thanks for posting this.

  12. Leah, thank you and my pleasure :-)

    Thanks, Ramona!

Linda, that is SO cool! I'm happy to make you happy!

Thank you, Betty. There's such a lot of character in old classics like this.

    Hi Teresa and thanks!

Thanks for stopping by, lynnekovan. I know you're so busy these days getting ready for your move so I appreciate your visit!

Thank you, Dawn, and I totally agree with you.

That's cool, Zuzana! I hope you're having a lovely weekend, too.

Hi Naomi and thanks for the visit. And no worries about the typo...I make them all the time! :-) Next time we're up at The Angle, I'm going to see if I can find out exactly how old that fire truck is.

I know, Lady Fi...it's amazing that it's still working. All the parts are updated, actually...it's just the "bones" that are old, I think.

You are absolutely right, TechnoBabe. And that was a really fun trip being away from all the hustle and bustle of the "mainland".

  13. Hi Cheryl - Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my blog. I love the old fire engine. My friend John got an old hand pump fire extinguisher from a local retired fireman. It sits behind my wood stove. It doesn't work any more, but looks pretty impressive. - Margy

  14. Hey, Margy! Glad you came by...and you should post a photo of that old hand pump fire extinguisher next to your wood stove. That would be a very cool shot.

  15. That's a great old fire truck, but I'm a little surprised it's still in service. If it works, though, I guess that's good enough.

  17. So cool, I love seeing vintage fire trucks drive down the street. The fact that they're still running shows that a lot of love went into preserving these nostalgic vehicles.

I just love reading your comments. It's part of what makes blogging so much fun, don't you think?

Unfortunately, because of a recent spat of spam, for awhile I'll be reviewing comments before publishing them.

Thanks for understanding.
