The Unicycle
Yesterday morning just after we finished setting up for the Rib Fest at the FargoDome, this fellow cycled by.
There were hardly any people there, yet, so it was easy to spot him...not your ordinary festival goer, you could say.
I don't believe I've ever seen anyone on a unicycle. Until now. It was fun to watch.
I'm not sure if he was just having a grand old time or if he was part of the show. Probably both.
Some years there are balloon artists who twist balloons into all sorts of animal shapes. Dachshunds are popular, if I recall....that long body and short little legs.
This year it's the unicycle rider. He neatly executed a couple of circles in front of our kiosk....
And then he "high-fived" this little boy whose mother lifted him up .
It's kind of hard to see because they were both in motion.
The Rib Fest is held each year at this time. It's our first outdoor event of the season.
And without fail, there's always at least one ghastly weather day...yesterday (Wednesday) it was chilly and windy early in the day which was frustrating because Tuesday it was very hot!
There's not a lot you can do about the weather so we just take it all in stride.
Summer is s-l-o-o-o-w-l-y arriving in Minnesota and we are ushering it in as best we can.

I love the feeling of a beginning season change. Sounds like a wonderful event, despite the unpredictable weather. Happy summer!!
ReplyDeleteIt's beyond me how one mounts a unicycle, let alone rides it. Fascinating, though.
ReplyDeleteI had a friend once who got around on a unicycle. I always wanted to try it but I never did.
ReplyDeleteI can't even imagine trying to ride one of these things but they are fascinating to watch. All the best with your event, I hope you do well and the weather cooperates for the weekend. It sounds like a fun event! Have a great time.
ReplyDeleteThe unicycle is beyond me. I can manage to stay upright on a bike, but even that can be iffy. Go him!
ReplyDeleteI'd break every bone in my body....
ReplyDeleteFun. I like your spirit; take it whatever it is for weather, and enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteI always think it looks so difficult to keep ones balance.;)) I see these often here at fairs and circus.;))
ReplyDeleteLovely images.;)

It's always seemed like fun to ride a unicycle - well, for a few turns, just for the fun. Couldn't believe the other night when the announcer said your temps would dip into the low 30s. Anyway, looks like everyone had fun at the fest. That's all that counts.
ReplyDeleteMy partner used to ride one. She was a dancer. Looks like great fun!
