Our Porch...A Room with a View
I caught this shot day before yesterday. The skies were overcast and everything was gray. But it made for a pretty picture, I think.
Jack noticed this crane from the porch window. It's a perfect vantage point for viewing the activity on Lake Mary. That guy was just perched on the back of the dock bench watching for tasty morsels just below the surface of the water.
The next morning he was perched on another dock bench just down the beach from us. So dock benches must be the "in" spot to watch for fish...if you're a crane, that is.
On another note, I drove to the Cities yesterday for a meeting and came home this afternoon. So I'm still playing "catch up". Tomorrow we're getting ready to head up to Fargo for the first home football game of the North Dakota State University Bison football team. It's always fun...those Bison football fans are so loyal!
Stay tuned!

Wow, it's so hard to even fathom the amount of water you have there. The bird sure doesn't seem to mind though.
ReplyDeleteHave fun at your f'ball game and enjoy the weekend!
Yes, it is a great picture. You are fortunate to have cranes who pose for you.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the football game.
Lovely shot. We have a heron which comes to visit the dock at Frank's cottage too. No bench for him though.
ReplyDeleteGood shot. The original fishermen.
ReplyDeleteI love the view from your porch. Thanks, as always for sharing it with us!
ReplyDeleteAnd enjoy the football game!
Love the picture of the crane!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you're keeping busy, which is good - keeps you out of trouble! :)
That IS a very nice shot of the heron, beautifully framed by the leaves. Your porch must be a nice refuge from daily pressures.
ReplyDeleteI love that picture!! Have fun at the football game - hope the weather is nice. :D
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely sight that must have been. This is mt first visit to your blog, so I've taken some time to browse through your earlier entries. I'm so glad I did that. This is a really pleasant spot to visit and I love your beautiful lake. I hope you have a great day. Blessings...Mary
ReplyDeleteWe can't believe the amount of water, either, darlin!! I do notice the water receding a little bit and just hope that we get some of our beach back!
ReplyDeleteTechnoBabe, I just realized that I called it a crane when it's actually a blue heron. Silly me. I don't know why I had "crane" on the "brain" - ha!
Thanks, Hilary. You have such gorgeous wildlife at Frank's cottage that it must be hard to go back to the "real" world!
That's so true, Ramona...the original fisherman, indeed!
Thank you, Janet! By the way, I think The Peanut Butter & Jelly Friendship sounds like a great book. Will contact you about ordering it.
Hi B.L...keeping busy but slowing down a bit. Am eager to get my blogging life back!
Thank you, Linda. We have our morning coffee on that porch every day. My favorite room in the house.
Hi there, Biz! The football games are all indoors so the weather isn't much of a factor, thank goodness. Will be by to visit you, soon.
Welcome, Mary! Thanks for the kind comment. I stopped by your blog and will spend some time there as soon as I get my ducks in a row. Your new soup recipe looks scrumptious.
That is a lovely picture. The silvery grey of the water and the slightly darker crane is wonderful. Not a bird that we get to see very often in the UK x
ReplyDeleteThat's very interesting. I read a post about a crane, just before this one. And now yours! And then to burst my bubble, you said it was really a heron.
ReplyDeleteWell never mind. It's still a lovely photo. Thanks for sharing.
Lovely pic. The crane looks most stately.
