This is one of my favorite quotes and I've shared it as a Christmas post in the past. But it will work well as my wishlist for the New Year.
If I substitute "my" for "your" it makes an excellent personal pledge for 2012.
So...in 2012 I pledge to give...
"To your enemy, forgiveness.
To an opponent, tolerance.
To a friend, your heart.
To a customer, service.
To all, charity.
To every child, a good example.
To yourself, respect.”

Warm wishes for
a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year
from our house to yours!
(We're working the rest of the week so it's quite likely that I won't be posting again until 2012.)

Hmm, I know what you mean about tolerance...not always easy! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely photo you've chosen for this post. Happy New Year to you, Cheryl.
ReplyDeleteLovely words of wisdom. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteGood counsel for the new year.
ReplyDeleteVery nice! Definitely stuff that is worthwhile to work on. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo, Cheryl.. and a lovely set of goals for sure.
ReplyDeleteGreat wishes for the new year. Hope we all can reach the place of achieving the goals for this year. There is something calming about the photo in this post. I can use some calm right now.
ReplyDeleteAh - just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteInteresting: I never tried to distinguish between an enemy and an opponent. That'll take some thought.

Happy New Year to you, too, Blissed-Out Grandma! My problem with tolerance is that I'm very intolerant of intolerance! Working on it.
ReplyDeleteLinda, thanks! That photo is one I took a few years ago of a sunset on our lake. So glad you like it!
Ms Sparrow, you are welcome. And Happy New Year to you. Will be by to visit, soon.
Hi Linda M. Thanks...I thought so, too.
Thank you, Janet!
Thanks, Hilary. It's easy enough to set goals...it's the carrying out of them that I have trouble with!
Cici, all the best to you in 2012, too! I'm so glad you like the photo.
LadyFi, thank you for stopping by! And I hope you have a wonderful 2012.
Mary Anne, I think you're right...will think about that, too!
